The Cost of Making the Holidays Magical

A holiday workshop for the moms who make the magic, so you actually get to enjoy it too.

Thursday, November 19 · 6–8 PM · Sparkle Aesthetics, 1000 Madison St, Oak Park

The Problem

,Every year, we make the holidays special for everyone else, and every January, we start the year exhausted and needing a vacation from our vacation, just in time to head back to work and get hit with ambitious Q1 goals from everyone who had a restful break.

It's not that you're doing the holidays wrong. The season asks more of moms every year, and nobody ever taught us how to set some of it down. The moments we remember most aren't the picture-perfect ones. They're the ones we were actually present for, and presence is hard to come by when your nervous system is running on fumes.

What you'll walk away with

This isn't another planner or a list of productivity hacks. You'll leave with your own Magic

Maker's Plan, filled in by hand before you go home:

How the Night Works

The first hour is for you: bites from Broken Tart, wine and signature cocktails, a gift from Sparkle Aesthetics, and good conversation with other local moms. We'll fill giant sticky notes with our most magical holiday memories, the traditions we love to hate, and the sanity-saving rules we swear by.

In the second hour, Tina leads a hands-on workshop that turns those conversations into your plan. We'll close with raffle prizes from some of our favorite local businesses.

Who It's For

This night is for the moms who carry the season: the ones holding the calendar, the gifts,

the traditions, and everyone's feelings, often while working too. If you love the holidays

but haven't felt like you got to enjoy them in a while, this is for you.

Meet Tina

Tina Shrader, LMFT, is a therapist, business owner, and mom of two who owns Empower Family Therapy here in Oak Park. She spends her days helping people understand how the nervous system shapes their relationships, their parenting, and their ability to be present.

She's also spent a December night on her bedroom floor, wrapping gifts she bought for herself and wondering where the magic went, so she gets it.

This workshop is a revised, more hands-on version of the talk she gave at the Oak Park–River Forest Chamber’s Women in Business event last December, titled Women Make the Magic: How to Be Present for the Holiday Joy You Work So Hard to Create.
